Parties are about having special fun with others!

Adolescents attend parties for various reasons especially for celebrating birthdays, special days and events as well as success in exams.

Being part of a group of people who are all celebrating the same thing is a good feeling.

Going to a party is exciting. You feel good to be included. You look forward to yummy food, talking and playing with others and having fun.

Do not attend parties you have not been invited too even if your best pal was invited.

If you get invited to a teen party then you need to think about a couple of things:

  1. Don’t accept the invitation until you have checked with parents or caregivers.
  2. Think about an appropriate gift for the birthday girl or boy. It doesn’t have to be expensive (just to prove a point!). If you can’t, then you could make a special birthday card rather than buy one, just to show that you have thought about what they would like.
  3. Try to go with another friend so that you can arrive together and not feel shy. It is even safer.
  4. Use and keep your manners! Don’t go buck wild just because you are with your friends because you could do crazy things you would probably regret for the rest of your life.
  5. Don’t give in to negative peer pressure, like smoking, drinking alcohol (excessively too!).
  6. Remember to thank your friend’s parents for having you there and say something nice like, “I really enjoyed myself, loved the food, thank you.”
  7. Leave for home on time. Do not keep late nights. It is not cool!
